"Back to Sleep”
FOR AIR WEEK OF July 15, 2002

Each year 3,000 babies die of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. SIDS is the sudden and unexpected death of an apparently healthy baby.
Hi, I’m Dr. John Hellerstedt with the Children’s Health Minute presented by this station and TexCare—connecting Texas families with children’s health insurance for 18 dollars a month or less.
Doctors don’t know what causes SIDS, but they do know that SIDS most often occurs in babies who are between 2 and 4 months old. According to recent medical research and the American Academy of Pediatrics the best way to lower the risk of SIDS is to put your baby on his or her back to sleep, even for naps.
Other ways to reduce the risk of SIDS include getting proper prenatal care, making sure babies sleep on firm surfaces free of soft toys and pillows, and don’t let anyone smoke around your baby.

Keep your kids healthy. Call TexCare at 1-800-647-6558 to apply or when it's time to renew your children's health care coverage.
That's 1-800-647-6558."
