CHILDREN’S
HEALTH MINUTE
Presented

60 Second Radio Feature MP3
"Sleepwear Safety ”
FOR AIR WEEK OF August 5, 2002
You’ll sleep
sounder and your children will be safer
if you place them in flame-resistant
sleepwear when you tuck them into bed.
Hi, I’m Dr. John
Hellerstedt with the children’s health
minute presented by this station and
Texcare-connecting Texas families
with children’s health insurance for
18 dollars a month or less.
To prevent burns, make sure your children’s
sleepwear is either flame-resistant
or snug fitting. Loose fitting t-shirts
and other loose-fitting clothing made
of cotton or cotton blends should
not be used for children’s sleepwear.
These garments can catch fire easily
before anyone notices, burn rapidly
and are associated with nearly 300
emergency room-treated burn injuries
each year.
Make sure to check the product labels
when you shop for pajamas. Only buy
products that are designed as sleepwear
and are flame-resistant.
Keep your kids
healthy. Call Texcare at 1-800-647-6558
to apply or when it’s time to renew
your children’s health care coverage.
That’s 1-800-647-6558.
