CHILDREN’S
HEALTH MINUTE
Presented
by the TexCare
60 Second Radio Feature MP3
"Childhood Cancer"
FOR AIR WEEK OF September 16, 2002
Cancer
is a scary topic, but medical experts
stress that awareness and research are
key in preventing and curing cancer
in children.
Hi, I’m Dr. John
Hellerstedt with the children’s health
minute presented by this station and
TexCare—connecting Texas families
with children’s health insurance for
18 dollars a month or less.
Up to 70% of all
childhood cancer can now be cured.
Childhood leukemia is cured more than
80% of the time. But, in spite of
these successes, more than 2,000 children
and teens die of cancer each year.
Researchers are still
looking for answers to why children
and grown-ups develop cancer.
September is
Childhood Cancer Month-- a time to
be aware of all the great advances
and the work yet to be done to conquer
cancer in children.
