CHILDREN’S
HEALTH MINUTE
Presented

60 Second Radio Feature MP3
"Loud Noises and Children"
FOR AIR WEEK OF October 14 , 2002
It's hard
enough getting your kids to listen as
it is - so protecting their hearing
is important.
Hi, I'm Dr. John
Hellerstedt with the children's health
minute presented by this station and
TexCare-connecting Texas families
with children's health insurance for
18 dollars a month or less.
Extremely loud music
and noise that goes on for a long
time are common causes of permanent
hearing loss. There's a chance that
your child's hearing is being damaged
if the noise is so loud that you have
to shout to make yourself heard.
Make sure your
child uses ear plugs or other protection
when using lawn tools or attending
live concerts. Monitor headphone use.
If the volume is too high and the
headphones are used a lot, the noise
level can damage your child's hearing.
Keep your kids healthy. Call TexCare
at 1-800-647-6558 to apply or when
it's time to renew your children's
health care coverage. That's 1-800-647-6558.
