CHILDREN’S
HEALTH MINUTE
Presented
by the TexCare
60 Second Radio Feature MP3
"Halloween Safety"
FOR AIR WEEK OF October 21 , 2002
With your
help, the only worry your children will
have on Halloween is how many treats
they can fill their bags with.
Hi, I'm Dr. John
Hellerstedt with the children's health
minute presented by this station and
TexCare-connecting Texas families
with children's health insurance for
18 dollars a month or less.
You may think of
Halloween as a time for fun and treats.
Yet almost four times as many children
end up in the emergency room on Halloween
as compared with other evenings of
the year. Falls are the leading cause
of injuries for children on Halloween.
To keep your
kids safe, have them travel in groups
accompanied by an adult. Make sure
they can see through their masks and
that they can't trip on their costumes.
Also have children visit only well
lighted homes and stay on the porch
instead of going inside.
Keep your kids
healthy. Call TexCare at 1-800-647-6558
to apply or when it's time to renew
your children's health care coverage.
