A runny nose is a common thing among young children, but when is it something more than just a common cold?
Hi, I'm Dr. John Hellerstedt with the children's health minute presented by this station and TexCare-connecting Texas families with children's health insurance for 18 dollars a month or less.
The common cold usually lasts 7 to 10 days, and it is not unusual for a child to have a runny nose during that time. But, if your child's nose is still runny after two weeks, it could be a sinus infection.
A constant runny nose, congestion and a low-grade fever could be caused by a sinus infection. But, because their sinuses are still developing, the signs and symptoms of sinus infection in kids can be hard to recognize. A visit to your child's doctor or health care professional may be the only way to be sure.
