FOR AIR WEEK OF December 9, 2002
Does traveling over the river and through the woods make your children sick to their stomachs?
Hi, I'm Dr. John Hellerstedt with the Children's Health Minute presented by this station and TexCare-connecting Texas families with children's health insurance for 18 dollars a month or less.
Coping with car sickness is no holiday. But by following good travel habits and planning ahead, you can make your holiday trip enjoyable. Make sure your child eats a light meal before the trip. An empty, or too full stomach can make car sickness worse.
Have your child face forward during a trip and stay focused on objects outside in the distance, rather than ones nearby, or in the car.
There are over-the-counter medications that can help prevent car sickness. Ask your child's health care professional which ones they recommend.
Keep your kids healthy. Call TexCare at 1-800-647-6558 to apply or when it's time to renew your children's health care coverage. That's 1-800-647-6558.
