How
you feed your baby now can have an
impact on your child’s heart later
in life.
Hi,
I’m Dr. John Hellerstedt with the
CHILDREN’S
HEALTH MINUTE, presented by TexCare
– connecting Texas families
with children’s health insurance for
18 dollars a month or less.
A
new study shows that babies who gain
weight too fast in the first years
of life can become obese later in
life.
Researchers
found that babies who had gained too
much weight during the first four
months of life were more likely to
become obese as adults, putting them
at risk for heart disease.
Monitor
your child’s weight gain closely.
If you notice rapid weight gain, take
your child to the doctor. Remember:
weight
and height measurement is part of
each regular well child check-up.
Make sure you take your child to each
scheduled visit, and ask about their
growth.
