CHILDREN’S
HEALTH MINUTE
Presented by
the TexCare
60 Second Radio Feature MP3
“Adenoids and
Tonsils”
FOR AIR WEEK OF MAY 27, 2001
Tonsils and adenoids.
What are they? And what should you do
if they are causing your child problems?
Hi, I’m Dr. John Hellerstedt and this
CHILDREN’S HEALTH MINUTE is presented
by the TexCare .
The tonsils are located in the back
of the throat on each side of the tongue.
Adenoids are just above the tonsils,
but at the back of the nasal passages.
Both are made up of tissues that normally
help fight infections. However, if these
tissues become infected or enlarged,
problems can occur including pain, fever,
and sometimes, difficulty breathing.
Your doctor will decide how to treat
each infection. For some kids,
doctors may recommend surgery.
Be assured that even if the tonsils
or adenoids are removed, your child
will still be able to fight off infections
just as before the surgery.
This CHILDREN’S HEALTH MINUTE is presented
by the TexCare —reminding
you that no child should be without
health insurance. Call 1-800-647-6558
to apply for children’s health insurance
that for most families is $18 a month
or less.
And join me next time for The CHILDREN’S
HEALTH MINUTE. |
