"Pink Eye"
FOR AIR WEEK OF June 25, 2001
People
call it "pink eye," and
it's the most common eye infection
in kids.
Hi, I am Dr. John
Hellerstedt and this Children's Health
Minute is presented by the TexCare
.
The
first sign of pink eye or conjunctivitis
can be a feeling of discomfort in
the eye, followed by redness and inflammation.
Later, a discharge may also be seen.
If
you think your child may have conjunctivitis,
call your doctor. Your doctor may
prescribe eye medicine to clear the
infection. However, if the eye
appears to be getting worse, or not
improving as expected make sure to
call your doctor back .
To make your child
more comfortable, carefully clean the
eye with warm water and cover it with
cool or warm cotton ball packs.
