CHILDREN’S
HEALTH MINUTE
Presented by
the TexCare
60 Second Radio Feature MP3
“Ulcers”
FOR AIR WEEK OF October 15, 2001
While it isn’t
common, even children can get ulcers.
Hi, I’m Dr. John Hellerstedt and this
CHILDREN’S HEALTH MINUTE is presented
by the TexCare .
In children, the most common ulcer is
a sore, irritated area in the lining
of the stomach or the beginning of the
small intestine. It’s not always
clear exactly why some children get
ulcers.
Although ulcers are not common in children,
you should consult the doctor if your
child has recurring symptoms such as:
- severe pain in the abdomen -vomiting
-chest pain -loss of appetite
-weight loss, or -blood in vomit
or bowel movements.
If your doctor suspects that an ulcer
could be the cause of your child’s symptoms,
he may refer you to a specialist.
This CHILDREN’S HEALTH MINUTE is presented
by the TexCare —reminding
you that no child should be without
health insurance. Call 1-800-647-6558
to apply for children’s health insurance
that for most families is $18 a month
or less.
And join me next time for The CHILDREN’S
HEALTH MINUTE. |
